I highly recommend anything by Something Like Silas (Glimpses, Divine Invitation) if they can still be found, as they showcase this bands incredible lyrics, talent, and ability to create a real, meaningful worship experience.
The songs range from the powerful opening song (Open Wide) to the thoughtful (Twilight) to the sublime (If You Find Her). Frontman Eric Owyoung has so much talent and ability to lead worship that you just get drawn in. He used to lead worship for Flood church in San Diego until just recently to tour full time. This is an incredible album that borders on the epic in terms of total listening of the entire album. Because of the use of the name Jesus just once, it’s not probable they will get the credit they deserve among the Christian audience, and they may have too much spirituality for a non-Christian audience, leaving them in the weird music borderland of too-Christian for radio, not Christian enough for the church.
For me, it’s the perfect blend of authentic, Christ-honoring music. |
