There is no sophomore slump here for Brandi Carlile. If you liked her first self-titled album, then you will love this one. With fresh music, great lyrics and her infectious voice, this album showcases her maturity as a songwriter even more than her first.

This album sounds like a Carole King album in the way she makes folk music fit for popular consumption. There are tracks on this album that delve into rock territory, and just as naturally swing into her country roots.
