While the shows are hit and miss (big hits, and big misses), the ambience is always classy and a good time is had by all. A lot of restaurants in the area make for a great date night. The Philharmonic is in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion opposite the Ahmanson and also has great shows for good prices.

Ford Theater

Good open-air theater in the Hollywood Hills, much like the Hollywood Bowl. Wide variety of hit and miss shows.

Glendale Centre Theater

If you have never been to this humble theater in Glendale to see a show, get tickets immediately. It really doesn't matter what's playing, its sure to be good. When you first walk in, you will wonder how they can actually put on a play in such a small, intimate theater, and by intermission, you will wonder how they just did what they did in such a small, intimate theater. The cast is always top notch, and the shows are always great.
