We believe that culture is meant to be engaged and redeemed, not avoided. Jesus prayed in John 17:15-18, “I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”

As we evaluate culture around us, we are required to intelligently sift through everything; redeeming what can be redeemed, and discarding the chaff. One has only to watch, listen or read the contemporary arts to feel the pulse of our culture. It is to this culture that Christ has sent us, and it is in the culture that the Gospel must flourish. We seek to examine and find areas of the contemporary arts that point to our universal cry for a Savior, and speak the Name of that Savior to those searching (Acts 17:16-32).

Modern art is a way of expressing experiences and emotions common to man: life, death, love, despair, hope, redemption. We engage the arts and those who are shaped by them because we believe that Jesus has something to say about those same experiences.

This section will have reviews on books, movies, music and art by different members of our community to help you learn to 'look, listen and watch' redemptively. It is our desire to equip the church to know how to respond to our culture with an intelligent worldview formed by the Word of God.
